my patient's private insurance company would not pay for a screening colonoscopy. He insisted on waiting until he qualified for medicare. When he had his colonoscopy it revealed metastatic colon cancer. If he had adequate health insurance he would be alive today. We deperately need a national health service or at least a public option that provides meaningful care and screening for preventable illnesses.

ABOUT US:
We are fighting for provisions to help more patients get the care they need and to limit the power of insurance companies. Doctors for America is a grassroots movement of over 16,000 physicians and medical students in all 50 states.
ABOUT ME:
I am a family doctor in Waterville, Maine. I have been in practice for 30 years and seen health care access diminish while insurance companies , pharmaceutical companies and tort lawyers rape the system.
